Introduction
Our manual handling training course will enable you and your employees to be compliant with the Manual Handling Operations Regulations 1992.Which requires employers to ensure that all employees are trained and competent in manual handling.
Back injuries can affect all people, in all job roles and all industry sectors. Many are irreversible and can result in significant periods of absenteeism, costing both employers and employees dearly.
The Manual Handling Operations Regulations 1992 (as amended) set no specific requirements for lifting and handling, such as weight limits.
The ergonomic approach to moving and handling shows clearly that such requirements are based on too simple a view of the problem and may lead to incorrect conclusions. Instead, an ergonomic assessment based on a range of relevant factors is used to determine the risk of injury and point the way to remedial action. RoSPA's manual handling safety training course will provide a good grounding in safe moving and handling techniques, as well as an understanding of the risks associated with such activities.
On completion of this occupational health and safety training course, delegates will be able to:
- Outline the hazards and risks associated with manual handling activities
- Outline measures to reduce the risks
- Demonstrate application of good posture and efficient movement principles in a range of scenarios.
- Causative factors and types of musculoskeletal injuries
- Avoiding musculoskeletal injuries
- Manual Handling Operations Regulations
- Principles of good posture and efficient movement principles
- Practical application.
