Introduction

The Mast and Tower Safety Group (MATS), in collaboration with EUSR, 1 day Tower Climb and Rescue scheme is designed for climbers re-validating their MATS certification. The course framework refreshes delegates' knowledge with the key information and practical training to work safely at height and gain access to major telecoms tower sites.

Upon successfully completing the programme, delegates will qualify for registration on the Energy, Utility and Skills Register (EUSR) for Basic Tower Climbing & Rescue; a unique ID No. and card will be provided.

PLEASE Note: Delegates must have obtained their MATS/EUSR Tower Climb and Rescue Initial Validation (3 day course) Certificate prior to booking on this course, your previous EUSR ID will also be required prior to booking.

This MATS / EUSR Tower Climber & Rescue scheme is designed for industry professionals re-validating their certification for working on high structures wearing personal protective equipment (PPE) and require rescue status in line with the 2005 work at height regulations. The course uses PowerPoint presentations, discussions on legislation followed by hands on PPE inspection. Delegates will be taught and assessed on practical elements of ladder and open structure climbing on a tower and the use of fall arrest systems on a selection of structure types. There is also a written assessment.

Unit 4 Selecting Appropriate Anchor Points

Unit 5 Using Fixed Fall Arrest Systems

Unit 6 Using Work Positioning Lanyards 

Unit 7 Using Additional Fall Prevention Equipment

Unit 8 Developing Rescue Plans

Unit 9 Managing Suspension Syncope

Unit 10 Selecting Rescue Techniques

Unit 11 Using Off-Weighting Techniques

Unit 12 Demonstrating Climbing Techniques

Unit 13 Carrying Out a Rescue

Includes written and practical assessments. Non UK Delegates are required to have a good standard of spoken and written English.

Delegates will need to bring outdoor clothing suitable for seasonal weather conditions. Climbing PPE can be provided if required. If delegates prefer to use their own PPE kit – PPE inspection records must be provided.
