Introduction

This comprehensive one-day training course is bespoke and requires a minimum of 5 delegates when booking. It's designed for delegates whose roles involve safely accessing and working on flat rooftops using fixed ladders and associated safety systems. The course combines both theoretical instruction and hands-on practical skills to equip delegates with the ability to climb fixed ladders, implement appropriate fall protection systems, identify hazards associated with working at height on rooftops, and perform basic rescue techniques relevant to fixed ladder access.

This course combines rooftop access and fixed ladder training with essential rescue awareness. It provides delegates with the knowledge and practical skills required to safely access flat rooftops using fixed ladders, correctly use fall protection equipment, and follow safe working procedures at height.

The training covers equipment inspection, safe climbing techniques, and the correct use of personal fall protection systems. It also includes basic rescue principles to prepare delegates for emergency situations involving ladder or rooftop access.

By the end of this course, delegates will be able to:

  1. Recognise and assess hazards related to fixed ladder access and working on flat rooftops.

  2. Conduct pre-use inspections of ladders, fall arrest systems, and personal protective equipment.

  3. Demonstrate safe climb and descent techniques using fixed ladder systems and fall protection equipment.

  4. Select and use appropriate fall arrest and work restraint systems relevant to rooftop access.

  5. Understand rescue principles associated with fixed ladder access at height, including safe lowering and risk considerations.

  6. Apply practical skills in safe rooftop access under supervision during course exercises.
